Ka Bao Jennrich is the legal assistant at Thooft Law and a second-year law student at the University of St. Thomas School of Law. She is currently the president of the Greater Minnesota Practice Cooperative, a student organization that connects students with law firms in greater Minnesota. She is passionate about promoting education to underrepresented groups, and has worked with St. Thomas’s Assistant Director of Admissions to help expand outreach to Hmong students interested in law. Ka Bao has also collaborated with Metropolitan University on introducing law school to undergraduate students.
Ka Bao graduated Salutatorian with her B.S. in business, where she received the business department’s highest award and gave the graduation speech. During her undergraduate years, she worked with the Access and Success office as a motivational speaker to encourage high school student parents to continue their education. She was an editor for the college newspaper and played the violin in the school’s chamber orchestra.
Besides her education, a lot of her knowledge and love for business comes from work experience. Ka Bao was an assistant manager at the St. Paul Hotel in downtown, St. Paul for several years. After that, she lived in Florida for a year and was part of the executive team that opened The Epicurean Hotel in Tampa, Florida. Business is her passion, and she hopes to focus the rest of her legal education on business and corporate law.
Currently, Ka Bao serves as a planning commissioner in the city of North Branch where she lives with her husband, two kids, and dogs. She also helps run her family’s businesses. During her spare time, she likes to garden, travel, and read.
